Individuals who work in the health care profession have been knocking on my door almost every where I go. Simply striking up a conversation, these complete strangers end up sharing their stories with me regarding the trauma they are experiencing during the COVID. We sit, perhaps at a restaurant, at a park or on a walk, while they unburden themselves. I am happy to lend an ear, share words of comfort or reflect back to them that I indeed understand their turmoil. It seems I even end up supporting my own doctors, emotionally, during my check ups.
I pay attention to such events and view them as a calling .
While I retired from my practice to write a book, I can't help but believe it's not a coincidence that these professionals are entering my life. During my career as an independent ministerial counselor, I worked with doctors, nurses and health care professionals who came from all walks of life and differing belief systems, often referred to me by their own doctors or counselors. I understand the stress experienced with such a profession: difficulty finding time with family, relationship issues, disturbed sleep schedules, administrative issues, long hours and sadness over the loss of patients.
If you would like to talk, I'm offering free 30 minute consultations for physicians and health workers. During that time, you can feel free to vent, discuss your experiences or pray. You support all of us. Now, let me support you..
